2024 Masters Preview

The Masters is undoubtably one of the most anticipated golf majors of the year and it gets underway in just over a week, with action teeing off on the 11th of April.

Last year’s Masters winner was Jon Rahm after the Spaniard taking advantage of others’ mistakes on the final day at Augusta in 2023 to claim his first green jacket.

Rahm’s winning score last year was 12 under par which is the lowest winning score posted in the Masters since Dustin Johnson’s incredible -20 in 2020.

Since winning the Masters Rahm has struggled, with the current Masters champion making the switch to LIV Golf at the start of this season. Rahm is 11/1 to win the Masters this year but the Spaniard hasn’t won an event since his win at Augusta in 2023.

The favourite for this years Masters is the formidable Scottie Scheffler who is looking to win his second green jacket this year – but more on the world number one later in our tips.

An infamous green jacket has continued to elude Rory McIlroy over the years – with the Northern Irishman looking to win the only major that he hasn’t been able to secure through his sensational career so far.

Things haven’t been easy for McIlroy in the past at Augusta, with his best ever finish at the course seeing the world number two finish just behind Scheffler in 2022 with a second place finish.

McIlory is the 47/5 second favourite to win the Masters this year with Lucky Block – despite being cut last year with a score of five over par.

There is of course plenty of contenders for this year’s Masters and picking a winner from the 102 player field is certainly no easy task.

Masters Betting Tip

  • Scottie Scheffler To Win The Masters @ 43/10

Our outright tip for the Masters this year is Scottie Scheffler, who is currently the 43/10 favourite to win at Augusta with Lucky Block’s latest Masters odds.

Scheffler has kicked off 2024 with two faultless performances on the PGA tour – at both the Arnold Palmer and the Players Championship to secure back-to-back events in preparation for the Masters.

The Arnold Palmer came first for Scheffler. Despite trailing Wyndham Clark by two shots heading into the final round, the world number one was able to clinch the event with relative ease – eventually winning by four shots.

The Players, however, was anything but simple for Scheffler, who had to pull back a five-shot deficit on the final day to secure his second consecutive title at TPC Sawgrass.

Scheffler’s approach play is something that fans have marvelled at for some time, but it is the American’s short game that has began to turn heads in 2024 – with notable improvements to his putting game clearly giving Scheffler an edge.

Since switching up his technique and changing to a mallet putter (on Rory McIlroy’s advice) Scheffler has been unstoppable and it would be no surprise to see him win a second major in April if his form continues.
